Extra Extra… Ottawa Duck Club Goes Web 2.0
Well, here we are. The new site location is in full effect. The old site is still up and running for a while with a redirect to the new location here at www.ottawaduckclub.com. Much as the same way as you would redirect your regular mail there is actually a usual process and/or etiquette. I guess I will have to dig back manually into the deep recesses of my brain and remember all of the sites that had links to our pages and inform them of our recent move. Here’s a short list of a few sites that I can remember that used to link to us, or at least should be:
I will be sending out emails in the next week or so. Please feel free to add any more link ideas in the comments section if anything comes to mind. I’ll do my best to solicit some reciprocal linking.
As far as the site goes, everything that was is here and remains. A few images were lost within a few of the NESTBOXES but they are safe and will be restored. It turns out that the time still needs to be found to upload them and the search is on.
After looking at the content it seems the banding stats could also use an update. Another issue was the Hatch Results page. I had delayed updating those stats since the tables on the page were not expandable. Now that I’ve rearranged those I seem to be having a hard time opening the Micro$oft Works files that Bill sent me some time ago. I’ll be happy to update those if I can get the latest updates.
PS: Since we’re now into the Web 2.0 thing you should check out this interesting blog from the folks at Ducks Unlimited.
PPS: I guess that means Churchy’s going to have to update his sign now too.

After a long silence the NCF finally responded. The seems to be some discrepancies between their rates on their website and the rates they suggest for “organizational sites”. At least I was able to get in there and fix up the page to redirect to our new address.
